Software의 Timothee Besset는 자신이 데비안 배포본을 좋아한다고 말했다.
다른 <a href="http://www.osnews.com/story.php?news_id=7314">글</a>에서 Leo Spalteholz는
얼마나 데비안에서 벗어나서 좀더 "쉬운" 배포본으로 가고싶어하는지 설명했지만 결국
데비안으로 돌아왔다.</p>
<p><strong>패키지 파일 나누기.</strong> Daniel Ruoso는 자신이 486에 8 MB 램
을 가지고
시리얼 라인으로 오직 PPP를 써서 개발 버전으로 업데이트할 수 있을지 <a href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2004/08/msg01221.html">생각했다</a>.
그는
<code>Packages</code> 파일들을 나눠서 사용하는 컴퓨터가 작게 나뉜 파일
위에서 작동하는 게
어떠냐고 제안했다. Peter Eisentraut는 30개 이상 나누게 되면 <code>sources.list</code>를
관리할 수 없게 된다고 <a href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2004/08/msg01234.html">주장했다.</a>
그는 매우 특정한 클라이언트만이 나뉜 모든 부분들을 포함할 수 있다고 덧붙였다.</p>
<p><strong>sarge에 필요한 표준 2.4 커널은?</strong> Dann Frazier는
다음번 릴리즈에 들어갈 2.4 커널로
2.4.27을 모든 아키텍처에 쓰게 해야 한다고 <a href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-release/2004/08/msg00381.html">\

그는 현재
데비안 프로젝트와 프리노드를 연결해주는 유일한 사람이고 그가 이 일을 자원해서 하는 이유는

<p><strong>sarge 릴리즈 업데이트.</strong> Steve Langasek는 다가오는
sarge 릴리즈에 대한 <a href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce/2004/08/msg00017.html">\
업데이트</a>를 보여줬다. 몇몇 라이브러리 작업이 끝났고 GIMP 2.0이 다른 몇몇 패키지와 함께
같이 sarge 안으로 들어온다. 새롭고 고정된 패키지들이 무더기로 오는 대신에 buildd
네트워크
부담을 많이 주면서 태풍처럼 다가왔다. RC 버그의 개수는 지난 번보다 줄었지만 아직
할 일이
많이 남아있다. 릴리즈를 향한 진척이 생각보다 느리다고 할 수 있다.</p>
<p><strong>sarge에 새로워지는 것은?</strong> Bartosz Fenski는 woody와 sarge 사이에
가장 중요한 변화는 무엇인지 <a href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2004/08/msg01487.html">물었다.</a>
Kevin McCarty는 몇몇 패키지들은 새로운 버전으로 갔다고 <a href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2004/08/msg01495.html">이야기했다.</a>
이러한 변화중에서 중요한 것으로 GNOME 2.6, KDE 3.2, GIMP 2, Firefox, Thunderbird, Linux 2.6과
OpenOffice.org가 있다.</p>
<p><strong>상위 버전 개발 중단...</strong> Daniel Burrows는 상위 개발이 중단되어 KDE용으로 나온

이야기했고</a> 패키지가 살아있는 동안 데비안에서 패키지는 변화가 없다고 했다.</p>
<p><strong>contrib와 non-free에 너무 오래된 패키지들.</strong> Jeroen van
Wolffelaar는 contrib와 non-free에 있는 패키지들에 대해 이 패키지들이 모두 같이 모든 지원되는
아키텍처에 잘 들어맞는지 <a href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-release/2004/08/msg00399.html">\
상기시켰다.</a> 이 패키지들이 최근에 sarge 릴리즈와 함께 같이 나올 수 없고 더이상
자동 빌드되지 않는다. </p>
<p><strong>데비안 experimental 배포판의 Kaffe로 PowerPC에서 Tomcat4 실행.</strong> Arnaud
Vandyck는 자유(free) 자바 환경이 중요한 단계(milestone)에 이르렀다고 <a href="http://www.livejournal.com/users/avdyk/6508.html">적었다</a>.
그는 자유 자바 환경이 독점적인(proprietary) 그것만큼 완전하지는 않지만 몇몇 경우에는
더 낫다고 주장했다. PowerPC 아키텍처에서 IBM의 독점적인 JDK로 여러
문제를 겪은 후 그는 자유 자바 환경으로 Tomcat4를 실행하는 데 성공했다.</p>
<p><strong>GNU/Linux 데스크탑.</strong> KDE 개발자 Kevin Ottens와
