href="$(HOME)/News/2006/20060601">宣佈</a>在 Debian GNU/Linux 3.1 也就是 sarge
釋出一年多後，對舊的 stable 發行版 3.0 的安全<a href="$(HOME)/security/">支援
</a>將在 2006 年六月底終止。Debian GNU/Linux 3.0 或稱 woody 是將近四年前
在 2002 年七月十九日釋出的。</p>
<p><strong>【增進 Debian 的知名度】</strong> Andreas Barth <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-publicity/2006/06/msg00000.html">表示</a>
過去曾有一些偏頗的 Debian 新聞在流傳。這些新聞記者似乎從一些給 Debian 開發人員看的

設定為 <a href="http://www.oftc.net/">Open and Free
Technology Community</a> (OFTC) 的別名。這次的移動主要是因為了解到
已經有許多的討論是在 OFTC 進行。OFTC 是一個 Debian 的姊妹組織，同樣
受到 <a
href="http://www.spi-inc.org/">Software in the Public Interest, Inc</a>
的贊助和支持。Debian 計畫曾使用 <a href="http://freenode.net/">
Freenode</a> IRC 網路數年。</p>
<p><strong>【失效的 Release Architecture 資格】</strong> Andreas Barth
<a href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-release/2006/06/msg00038.html">
報告</a>大約有三個 CPU 架構原本被 Debian <a href="$(HOME)/releases/sarge/">sarge</a>
支援，但是現在已經無法滿足留在 <a href="$(HOME)/releases/etch/">etch</a> 中的條件。
一些 <a href="$(HOME)/ports/m68k/">m68k</a> 的系統仍然只能使用已經不被支援的
2.2 或 2.4 核心。<a href="$(HOME)/ports/s390/">s390</a> 的版本缺乏足夠數量的
開發人員。<a href="$(HOME)/ports/sparc/">sparc</a> 則是缺乏核心的支援。
