收到垃圾郵件（spam）都感到相當地厭煩。Philip Jacob 發表了一篇名為『<a
href="http://theory.whirlycott.com/~phil/antispam/rbl-bad/rbl-bad.html">The
Spam Problem: Moving Beyond RBLs</a>』的論文。文中他先描述了什麼是 Realtime
Blackhole Lists（RBLs）以及 RBL 應用於通信通信論壇時所特有的問題。然後他提到
了關於下一代反垃圾郵件系統（antispam system）的構想。此外，<a
href="http://www.spamconference.org/">Spam Conference</a> 將於1月17日於 MIT
舉行。</p>

<p><strong>【增加活動的能見度】</strong> 通信論壇上有一封<a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce-0212/msg00008.html">
信</a>號召大家更積極地參與及準備 Debian 參加的相關活動。Debian 計劃的網站
上有數個<a href="$(HOME)/events/">網頁</a>報導 Debian 參與的活動。這些
網頁通常有一個小段落簡短地介紹這個活動，以及一個較長的段落報導 Debian 參與

Calendar entries）。Infodrom 上則有一份今年 GNU/Linux 重要活動的<a

<p><strong>【Debian 新套件的 RSS 資源】</strong> Joe Nahmias 告訴我們
Andrew Cosgriff 依據 Randolph Chung 的最近七天<a
href="http://auric.debian.org/~tausq/newpkgs.html">新套件列表</a>製作了一份
Debian 新套件的 <a
href="http://polydistortion.net/urls/new-debian-packages.rss">RSS 資源</a>。
附帶一提，這份列表也是 DWN 中【新的或值得注意的軟體套件】列表的來源。</p>

<p><strong>【新的 Debian 名片】</strong> Jean-Michel Kelbert <a

大家新的<a
href="http://people.debian.org/~kelbert/carte_debian_expo.png">名</a><a
href="http://people.debian.org/~kelbert/carte_debian_expo.xcf">片</a>已經
設計好了。Martin Wuertele 則<a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-0212/msg01092.html">提供</a>了
<a href="$(HOME)/events/materials/business-cards/traditional/">舊款</a>名
片的更新版本。這些新款名片都在稍後被納入 Debian <a

<p><strong>【須要 Python 的 Perl 套件】</strong> Kenneth Pronovici 負責<a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-0212/msg01762.html">維護</a>一個
Debian <a
href="http://packages.debian.org/unstable/interpreters/libxmltv-perl">perl
[CN:程序庫:][HKTW:函式庫:]套件</a>。這聽起來也許有點奇怪，不過這個[CN:程序庫:][HKTW:函式庫:]的作者最近新增
了一個[CN:組件:][HKTW:元件:]，這個[CN:組件:][HKTW:元件:]是用 Python 而非 Perl 寫的。Wouter Verhelst 和 Matt Zimmerman
建議他將這個[CN:程序庫:][HKTW:函式庫:][CN:拆分:][HKTW:分割:]成數個套件，保持原來的 Perl [CN:程序庫:][HKTW:函式庫:]套件，把新的 Python

<p><strong>【Debian Conference 3】</strong> Tollef Fog Heen <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce-0301/msg00001.html">
宣佈</a>將在歐洲（更精確地說，是在挪威的 Oslo）舉辦 <a
href="$(HOME)/events/2003/0718-debconf">Debian 研討會</a>。Oslo 大學非常好心地
提供我們場地。會議室和網路在研討會開始<a
href="http://www.debconf.org/debconf3/debcamp.php">之前幾天</a>就會準備好，
所以大家可以有時間坐下來、相互討論交流、烤肉、野餐，好好地輕鬆一下。如果你有<a

<p><strong>【Egrep 從 /bin 移到 /usr/bin】</strong> Jan Niehusmann <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-0301/msg00064.html">懷疑</a>最近將
egrep 從 <code>/bin</code> 移到 <code>/usr/bin</code> 的作法是否合適。這會造
成如 logcheck 一類將 egrep 路徑寫死在[CN:程序:][HKTW:程式:]中（hard-coded）的套件出問題。Hwei
Sheng Teoh <a href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-0301/msg00066.html">
不知道</a>應該對這一類的套件[CN:注冊:][HKTW:登錄:] bug [CN:或者:][HKTW:或是:]再把 egrep 移回原來的路徑下。Matt
Zimmerman <a href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-0301/msg00070.html">
傾向</a>前者，而 Adam Heath 則是<a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-0301/msg00162.html">贊成</a>後者。
Stephen Frost <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-0301/msg00072.html">認為</a>較合適
的解決方式是讓 egrep、fgrep 和 grep 變成同一個[CN:程序檔:][HKTW:執行檔:]。這樣不但能解決上述狀況，
而且如果有任何[CN:程序:][HKTW:程式:]在掛載（mount）<code>/usr</code>之前要使用到 egrep 或 fgrep
也不會有問題。</p>

<p><strong>【[CN:創建:][HKTW:建立:] Debian 套件[CN:文件:][HKTW:檔案:]庫】</strong> Aaron Isotton <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-doc-0301/msg00006.html">告訴</a>大家他
寫了篇 <a
href="http://www.isotton.com/debian/docs/debian-repository-howto/">Debian
Repository Howto</a>。這份[CN:文檔:][HKTW:文件:]說明什麼是 Debian 套件[CN:文件:][HKTW:檔案:]庫，和如何規劃、
[CN:創建:][HKTW:建立:]及使用它。</p>

<p><strong>【從 Aspell 字典中移除 DEC 詞庫】</strong> Kevin Atkinson <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-legal-0301/msg00007.html">宣佈</a>
因為對 DEC 詞庫（DEC Word List）的授權方式有疑問，而且少了它並不會嚴重影
響套件的品質，所以現在已經將它從 aspell 英文字典中移除。對詞庫授權方式
的疑問在去年有相關的<a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-legal-0210/msg00204.html">討論</a>。</p>

<p><strong>【Debian 的保障穩私權宣告？】</strong> Rapha&euml;l Hertzog <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-www-0301/msg00007.html">詢問</a>
Debian 是不是應該要在網站中加上保障穩私權宣告（privacy notice）。現在網站上
並沒有任何聲明能讓使用者確知如訂閱通信論壇的使用者[CN:數據庫:][HKTW:資料庫:]會被妥善保密，不會
被賣給相關業者等等的穩私權問題。Santiago Vila <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-www-0301/msg00008.html">認為</a>這是個
不錯的主意，不過現階段的較急迫的[CN:任務:][HKTW:工作:]應該是加強防堵通信論壇的垃圾[CN:郵件:][HKTW:信件:]。</p>

<p><strong>【POSIX 模式下的 su】</strong> Greg Stark <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-0301/msg00108.html">發現</a>如果將
<code>POSIXLY_CORRECT</code> 設為 1 會造成部份[CN:程序:][HKTW:程式:]和安裝[CN:腳本:][HKTW:命令稿:]（installation
scripts）無法[CN:運行:][HKTW:執行:]，因為它們沒有考慮到 GNU [CN:程序:][HKTW:程式:]在 POSIX 模式下[CN:運行:][HKTW:執行:]時會有不同的
特性。這個問題大部份是因為在 init [CN:腳本:][HKTW:命令稿:]中該使用 <code>start-stop-daemon</code>
的地方卻用 <code>su</code> 才<a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-0301/msg00117.html">造成</a>的。</p>

<p><strong>【[CN:更改:][HKTW:變更:][CN:菜單:][HKTW:選單:][CN:文件的:][HKTW:檔案的:]位置】</strong> Bill Allombert <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-policy-0212/msg00172.html">說</a>
因為歷史因素，現有的[CN:菜單:][HKTW:選單:]系統把[CN:菜單:][HKTW:選單:][CN:文件:][HKTW:檔案:]（menu files）放在
<code>/usr/lib/menu</code> 中。但是，如果要符合 <a
href="http://www.pathname.com/fhs/">FHS</a>（File Hierarchy Standard），
我們得把這些[CN:文件:][HKTW:檔案:]移到 <code>/usr/share/menu</code> 下面。他建議上傳一個新
的[CN:菜單:][HKTW:選單:]套件把[CN:文件:][HKTW:檔案:]同時放在這兩個地方。Richard Braakman <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-policy-0212/msg00175.html">認為</a>
因為這些[CN:菜單:][HKTW:選單:][CN:文件:][HKTW:檔案:]都很小，所以可以暫時把同一份[CN:文件:][HKTW:檔案:]複製到這兩個目錄下來達成
FHS 的要求。</p>

<p><strong>【Changelog 使用 UTF-8 編碼】</strong> Colin Walters <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-policy-0301/msg00006.html">提議</a>
在規章中增列條文規定 changelog [CN:文件:][HKTW:檔:]要以 <a href="http://www.unicode.org/">Unicode</a>
的 <a
href="http://www.cis.ohio-state.edu/cgi-bin/rfc/rfc2279.html">UTF-8</a>
編碼。現在的情況是，人們把各式各樣的[CN:字符:][HKTW:字元:]填入 Debian changelog。Radovan Garabik <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-policy-0301/msg00022.html">說</a>
這樣的提議至少已經被提出過兩次，而且早已經達成決議了。</p>

<p><strong>【[CN:用戶配置文件:][HKTW:使用者[CN:設置:][HKTW:設定:]檔:]】</strong> Jamin Collins <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-policy-0301/msg00056.html">建議</a>
將[CN:用戶配置文件:][HKTW:使用者設定檔:]移到 <code>~/.etc</code> 下，這樣大家的主目錄（home directory）
看起來比較不會這麼亂。FHS 通信論壇上也在<a
href="http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/message.php?msg_id=1791001">討論</a>
這個問題。Colin Watson <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-policy-0301/msg00061.html">說</a>這個方式
和我們大部份套件的作法不同，而且使用者如果自己編譯這些軟體，它們還是會把設定
檔放在主目錄下。Lars Wirzenius 則說除非能<a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-policy-0301/msg00072.html">用</a>時光機回
到 1970 年代，不然現在想做這樣的修改已經太晚了。</p>

<p><strong>【LyX 被移到 main 中】</strong> <a
href="http://www.lyx.org/">LyX</a>，一個在 X [CN:窗口:][HKTW:視窗:]中[CN:運行:][HKTW:執行:]的 LaTeX 所見即所得
前端[CN:程序:][HKTW:程式:]（WYSIWYG-frontend），終於被<a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-changes-0212/msg02080.html">
上傳</a>到 main 套件[CN:文件:][HKTW:檔案:]庫了。因為它使用的
<a href="http://world.std.com/~xforms/">Xforms</a> GUI toolkit <a
href="http://bob.usuhs.mil/mailserv/list-archives/xforms-archive/0144.html">
改採</a><a
href="http://www.gnu.org/copyleft/lesser.html">GNU Lesser General Public
License</a>，才讓 LyX 得以進入 main [CN:文件:][HKTW:檔案:]庫。Xforms 的 1.0-final 在十二月中旬
時發行並<a

<p><strong>【將 C++ 轉換到 GCC 3.2 的準備工作完成了】</strong> Ryan Murray <a
href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce-0301/msg00002.html">
表示</a> 針對 GCC 3.2 的 <a
href="http://people.debian.org/~rmurray/c++transition.html">C++ 轉換計畫</a>
準備工作已經完成。因為 GCC 3.2 [CN:更改:][HKTW:變更:]了 C++ ABI，由 GCC 3.2 編輯的 C++ [CN:程序庫:][HKTW:函式庫:]
無法和舊版 GCC 編譯出來的 C++ [CN:應用程序:][HKTW:應用程式:]搭配使用，反之亦然。除了 libqt2 之外，
我們將以 gcc-3.2 ABI 重新編譯所有的 C++ 套件。讓 libqt2 保持原有的 ABI 是為了
維持它和 woody 及[CN:其他:][HKTW:其它:]使用 libqt2 [CN:程序:][HKTW:程式:]的相容性。libqt3 將使用新的 ABI。</p>
